The AC Marriott hotel chain is expanding its presence on the Costa del Sol, taking over the management of the five-star Las Dunas Grand Luxury Hotel in Estepona. The agreement, signed with real estate firm Tartales, secures Marriott’s management of the property under its prestigious Autograph Collection brand for the next 20 years.
Before reopening under its new identity, the hotel will undergo a major renovation, with plans to welcome guests again by March 2026.
Originally opened in 1996, Las Dunas has long been one of the most exclusive hotels on the Costa del Sol, offering 55 luxury suites, a spa, gym, meeting facilities, and a spectacular pool area. The property has hosted numerous notable events over the decades — including a private Julio Iglesias concert for just 200 guests in 2008 — and was named Spain’s Best Health Hotel at the Premios Roca in 2016.
With this new acquisition, AC Marriott strengthens its footprint in southern Spain, joining its flagship AC Málaga Palacio and setting the stage for further expansion in Andalusia, where new projects are already being explored in Malaga, Granada, Seville, and Cordoba.
