Some 64 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Malaga province, according to official data from the Junta de Andalucía this Monday, 8 March – the lowest figure in the last three months.
Two deaths have been registered after Sunday was the first day without any fatalities in the last two months.
The cumulative incidence rate for the virus in the last 14 days shows a slight decrease in Malaga province and stands at 111.8 positives per 100,000 inhabitants compared to 115.4 on Friday (the last update as it not reported at the weekends).
The regional rate for Andalucía has increased by one point, going from 130.9 to 131.8. As for the rest of the provinces, the top incidence rate number is 239 from Almeria and, at the bottom of the table, 68.2 from Huelva.
By health district the data shows a positive improvement in most areas of Malaga province. The highest incidence continues to be in the Serranía de Ronda, although the 176.4 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants this Monday represents a clear drop from the 229.1 on Friday. The Costa del Sol remains at 153.4; while the rest of the health areas are below a hundred: Malaga (95.7), Valle del Guadalhorce (80), La Vega de Antequera (the only one that has risen, from 86.2 to 89.9) and the Axarquía (55.2).
To date 160,407 vaccines have been administered in the province since the campaign began at the end of December. Of this number, 43,879 people have received both doses to help protect them against SARS-CoV-2.
